Why We Exist

Built from lived experience. Not from a business plan.

Thoughtful caregiver supporting a cancer patient at home in Delaware County

"I know what it feels like to sit in that chair. I built this so no one has to do it without someone truly present."

Our founder is a stage 2 colon cancer survivor who built this agency because she lived through what every client of ours is facing. She sat in the infusion chair. She attended iron infusions. She knows the fear, the exhaustion, and the profound need for someone who genuinely shows up.

When you call Covered Home Care, you speak with our founder directly. Not a call center. The person who built this agency from personal experience and who takes personal responsibility for your care.

"I was the first in my family to face cancer. I had love all around me but no one who truly understood what I was going through. That is why this agency exists."

The Founder

A stage 2 colon cancer survivor.

The founder of Covered Home Care is a stage 2 colon cancer survivor who built this agency because she lived through exactly what every client of ours is facing. She has personally sat in chemotherapy chairs, attended iron infusions, and navigated the fear and vulnerability that comes with a serious diagnosis.

She was the first in her family to experience cancer. She had the full love and support of her family around her, but they had no way to truly understand what she was experiencing. Not physically. Not mentally. Not emotionally.

"I built Covered Home Care because I know firsthand what it means to need someone to show up with genuine understanding. Not just to help with tasks, but to truly be present in the hardest moments."

That experience shapes how caregivers are trained, how clients are treated, and why every intake call is handled personally by the founder herself. This agency was not built from a business plan. It was built from a lived experience that no competitor can replicate.

Our Values

What guides every decision we make.

Intentionality

We are small by design. Every client relationship is personal. Every caregiver placement is deliberate.

Genuine Presence

Showing up is not enough. We train caregivers to be truly present with specific understanding that comes from lived experience.

Dignity in Every Detail

From how a caregiver knocks on a door to how an invoice is sent, every detail reflects respect for the people we serve.

Complete Transparency

We tell families exactly what we do and what we do not do. No surprises. No hidden scope. Complete honesty from the first conversation.

Professional Excellence

Licensed, insured, trained, and background checked. Professional standards are not optional, they are the baseline from which we build.

Open to Everyone

Our heart is with cancer patients and survivors. Our doors are open to anyone who needs compassionate, professional home care.

Beyond Caregiving

Our Commitment to the Community

Covered Home Care was founded from lived experience, and our commitment extends beyond caregiving.

Each year, we proudly support fundraising efforts benefiting the Colorectal Cancer Alliance to help raise awareness and expand access to potentially life-saving colorectal cancer screenings.

We believe care means more than showing up inside the home. It also means helping protect the health of our community through advocacy, awareness, and early detection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your questions answered.

Everything you need to know about services, billing, payment, and how Covered Home Care works.

Billing and Payment

Payment, invoicing, and mileage.

How does billing and payment work?+
Covered Home Care bills weekly for ongoing services. Clients receive an itemized invoice for care provided during the previous service week. To reserve care and ensure continuity of service, a deposit equal to one week of scheduled care is required prior to the start of services. This deposit is held securely on the client’s account and applied to the final invoice when services conclude. For added convenience, clients are required to maintain a valid credit card, debit card, or ACH payment method on file. Weekly invoices may be paid automatically through our secure payment platform. Signature Experiences, including Treatment Companion, Homecoming Recovery, and Family Relief, are payable in full at the time of scheduling. We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and ACH bank transfers.
Is there a late payment fee?+
Yes. A $35 late fee applies to any invoice that remains unpaid more than 14 days after the invoice date, and a $35 charge applies to any returned or declined payment. If a balance remains more than 14 days past due despite prior written notice, services may be paused until it is settled. If you are experiencing a hardship, please contact us directly so we can work with you.
Who is responsible for mileage costs on transportation shifts?+
When a caregiver provides transportation to a medical appointment as part of a Concierge Care shift, mileage is billed to the client as a separate line item on your invoice. Mileage is charged at the current IRS standard mileage rate of $0.70 per mile. Mileage is documented with odometer readings before and after every trip.
What does private pay mean and why does Covered Home Care not take insurance?+
Private pay means you pay for services directly rather than through an insurance company or government program. Choosing private pay allows Covered Home Care to answer entirely to you rather than to an insurer's requirements, reimbursement rates, or approval processes. It means faster service, more flexibility, and care designed around your needs rather than what a payer will authorize.
Insurance

Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.

Does Covered Home Care accept Medicare or Medicaid?+
No. Covered Home Care is a private pay agency. We do not bill Medicare or Medicaid. Medicare does not cover non-medical home care services such as companionship, personal care assistance, or homemaker services. All services are paid directly by the client or their family.
Will Covered Home Care accept health insurance in the future?+
We are working toward accepting long-term care insurance in the near future. Long-term care insurance policies such as those issued by Genworth, Mutual of Omaha, and Transamerica often cover non-medical home care services. If you have a long-term care insurance policy contact us and we will work with you and your insurance provider to understand your benefits. Expanding our insurance partnerships including carriers such as Aetna and UnitedHealthcare is a goal for the future.
Services and Scheduling

Getting started and what to expect.

What is the cancellation policy?+
We ask for at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a visit. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice are subject to a fee equal to 2 hours at your booked service rate. We understand that medical situations change unexpectedly and we always handle those circumstances with compassion. You can submit a cancellation or schedule change request online at coveredhomecarepa.com or by calling or texting (484) 278-3729.
How quickly can services begin?+
Once your intake is complete and your service agreement is signed, services typically begin within 10 to 14 days. This window allows us to match you with the right caregiver and ensure all preparation is in place before your first visit. If you have an urgent need please contact us directly and we will do our best to accommodate your timeline.
Can I request a specific caregiver?+
Yes. You can indicate a caregiver preference including gender preference during the intake process. We will do our best to honor your request based on caregiver availability. As our team grows we will offer a preferred caregiver option that allows returning clients to request the same caregiver for consistent, familiar care.
What areas does Covered Home Care serve?+
We serve Delaware County and surrounding areas, including Media, Springfield, Havertown, Newtown Square, Bryn Mawr, Ardmore, Drexel Hill, Lansdowne, Upper Darby, and the Main Line, with select availability in neighboring Montgomery County and Philadelphia communities. If you are unsure whether your location is within our service area, contact us and we will let you know.
